News Oak Bay Beach Hotel upgraded to Joomla 1.5

Cool New Media recently worked with Radar Hill Technology and Walker Hospitality in their project to upgrade the existing Oak Bay Beach Hotel website from Joomla 1.0 to Joomla 1.5. The previous Oak Bay Beach Hotel website contained quite a bit of non-Joomla functionality which made it difficult to update and edit. In the previous website, even though it was Joomla powered, much of the content could not been updated/edited without directly uploading pages, includes or graphics (outside of Joomla). Our goal in this upgrade project was to migrate much of the content back into Joomla content management containers so that marketing staff could once again update and edit content on the website without having to go through a developer. As well, we tried to maintain much of the rich interface for the Oak Bay Beach Hotel website to continue to convey the richness and elegance of the future hotel. Also, as part of the upgrade, we built a completely new Joomla 1.5 template to manage the look and feel for the website. We tossed out lots of old code to optimize performance with te end result being a leaner template to build upon. Joomla Extensions used in this project:
